The Game of Life
Mark 8: 34-36  -CEB

the Game of Life
Hi, again!

This week we are thinking about giving of ourselves.  Jesus gave up everything for us.  He had to submit completely to God's will in order to save each and every one of us from our sins.  Jesus gave so much!  Maybe we can try to give, too.  I'm not just talking about money, either.  When Jesus says to give of ourselves, he wants us to put others first.  Giving is a verb (action word).  God wants us to use our actions to help others as well as money or gifts.

In the Game of Life board game, the ultimate goal is to reach "Millionaire Acres".  But, in Jesus' game of life, the goal is to give rather than to get.

The season of Lent is a great time to think about what you can do for someone else and then make it happen.

 Have a wonderful week!

Springtime and Lent
Is anyone else looking forward to springtime?  I know I am!  Springtime is the time of Easter, when we remember Jesus gave himself for us.  This week we remembered Ash Wednesday.  That's the first day of Lent when we have the ashes of last year's Palm Sunday palm branches spread on our foreheads in the shape of the cross.

For the next 40 days (not including Sundays) we will be preparing for Easter.  It is a great time to clean up our lives and get rid of the clutter that keeps us away from God.  The link below will take you to a site with a printable Lenten calendar so you can fill up that time you have now after your cleaning with little seeds to please God.

Take care everyone,

God's Love Letter
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

I hope you all have someone to celebrate love with today.  It may be a parent or grandparent, brother or sister, friend or neighbor, husband or wife or anyone special to you.

None of us is alone on Valentine's Day.  God loves every one of you and tells us all about that love.  There are many love letters in the bible.  The one we focus on today is in the book of John, chapter 13 verses 34 and 35:

34 “I give you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other.
35 This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, when you love each other.”

God loves us so much He gave his Son to save us from our sins.  He wants us to share that same amazing love with everyone else.

Prayer was important to Jesus
Jesus always took time to pray.  We need to take time to pray, too.  God wants us to tell him all our hopes, fears, pains, and happiness.  He also wants us to remember to take the time to listen as well.  God speaks to us in many different ways.  Sometimes it is through reading His Word, the Bible.  Sometimes God speaks to us through a parent, minister or teacher we trust.  You may never get a phone call from God, best rest assured, he still speaks to us if we listen.

Until next week,
Miss Sandi and Mr. Galen

Who's in Control?
Don't forget -

No matter what happens in your life, God is bigger than everything.  He is always in control if we allow him to be.

God loves you more than you can know.

Emmanuel Church loves you, too!  Check out the link below for a coloring page to remind you of this lesson.
